Nicola has worked in a variety of nursing leadership roles since the 90’s, initially in medical and surgical wards in Whangarei Hospital, before moving to community based assessment and rehabilitation services funded by ACC (Burtons Healthcare, Abano Rehabilitation, and Integrated Partners in Health). These services covered the full spectrum of traumatic brain injury, from concussion to severe TBI, as well as social rehab assessments, vocational assessment and rehabilitation for a wide range of accidents and injuries.
After 20 years of working with clients with brain injury and ACC, Nicola felt she needed a change and 3 years ago she became the Head of Health Services at Homecare Medical, the National Telehealth Service provider, where her team of 150 nurses answered over 1000 phone calls each day and provided triage and advice to the public and visitors of NZ through Healthline and GP After Hours services. This equipped Nicola with a greater knowledge of providing healthcare services in our rapidly changing digital world, but Nicola missed the client journeys and decided to return to the brain injury rehabilitation sector, and commenced work with Goodwood Park in January this year.
Nicola lives at Gulf harbour on the Hibiscus Coast and enjoys an outdoor lifestyle of boating, fishing and beaches, she also rides a Ducati motorbike, and has recently taken up archery.
She has 2 teenage children and an anxious poodle dog, who all contribute to rapidly emerging grey hair and need for hair dye.
